Book

Rodrick Rules is the second book in Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney, published in 2008. The book's synopsis centers on Greg Heffley trying to keep a secret from the summer that his older brother, Rodrick, witnessed. The story follows their sibling rivalry as Rodrick blackmails Greg, and Greg tries to navigate middle school, keep his secret, and manage his older brother's antics.

The book focuses on the dynamic between Greg and Rodrick, exploring sibling rivalry and the challenges of living in the same house. Greg is also trying to navigate the complexities of middle school, including trying to impress girls and avoid embarrassment at the upcoming school talent show.

Rodrick Rules was another book that managed to get a movie the main difference is that the Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules movie (live-action, 2011) is a more character-driven narrative than the book, focusing on Greg and Rodrick bonding, while the 2022 animated version is a more faithful (though still rushed) adaptation of the book. Both movies expand on Greg's character arc, with the live-action movie making Rodrick's character more likable and giving Greg more character development than in the book.
